Can’t predict refinancing

Q

Given the current state of the bond market, do you think refinancing will stop? Do you expect long-term municipal bonds will earn higher rates in the near future, maybe 4.00% or more for quality muni bonds?

James A. Klotz responds:

One can only speculate as to whether refinancing will be affected and if so, for how long.

As a long-time client, you know we don’t think anyone can successfully predict interest rates for any reasonable period of time, including us.

If our clients buy bonds when their investment funds are available and keep their money working, they always seem to be pleased with the results.
